COFA Graduate Exhibition.

My cousin graduated from COFA and had her work displayed in Carriage Works along with all the other COFA graduates. She is very talented :) The work on show was amazing, it's truly inspiring to see what young Sydney has to offer in terms of art. It also makes me completely panicked as I will have to come up with a major work when I finish my Visual Communications degree. Oh well, here are some shameful photos I took on my iPhone. (Better than nothing eh?)

 My cousin's photography work, photo doesn't do it justice! She also had a video that accompanied it. Its about illusions with water and was very trippy!

My favourite work from the night. It was photographs of urban desolate places, and then a body would be just floating/falling from the sky in the photograph. I always love suspension in art, so loved this!

Was it Just Me?

I always thought that 'MARCS' was by Marc Jacobs, along with MARCS Baby doll. It wasn't until two months or so ago, I made a new drunk friend in a bar and she told me she worked for MARCS and that in fact it wasn't by Marc Jacobs. Oh my! My tweenhood has been falsified, from around the age 13-14 I thought I was sporting some legit designer wear - apparently not. It's pretty funny, serves me right! Something about the price should have given it away, but I honestly haven't been into a MARCS store since I was probably 15. About two days I walked past the MARCS shop on Oxford street and a man was speaking to his friend saying 'But it's not even Marc Jacobs?!' Haha, I guess I'm not the only one whose shocked!

The Satorialist Has Confirmed My Worst Nightmare

Flares are back! Ahhhhhhhh. Never has my body looked so disproportional than in flares. They look good on stick figures, and that's about it. If you can work them out, good for you. But 80% of the nation and I can't, so please don't make it a trend, and just wear them around your living room or something, thank you!

Martin de Thurah

Martin de Thurah is a director genius! I've always loved his work, and he shares the same birthday as me, twinnies! Hailing from Denmark, Martin has is more famously known for his 'What Else is There?' film clip for Royksopp, however he has also done music clips for Mew, Kanye West, Fever Ray, The Futureheads, The Editors and so on. He's made his own movies, done advertisments and more, but my favourite work by Martin is his Ad for IKEA, so so lovely! (PS you should at least glimpse these video clips, just to get an idea!)





It's so honest and so beautifully captured in the cinematography!


I think what I love most about Martin de Thurah is his use of slow motion to create this idea of suspension, his use of water, but most of all, each frame of the videos he creates is photograph-worthy. In saying this I mean that you could use any stills from his work, and treat it like a photograph, everything is so well considered.


This video clip for Carpark North - 'Human' takes a relatively poppy song and makes it something beautiful.





And finally, what made me fall in love with Martin's work - 'What Else is There?'  by Royksopp.
