Caught My Eye

Hope you had a lovely week-end, here are some things that have captured my attention.

I'm a big fan of liquid eyeliner when I bother wearing make-up, however sometimes I feel like it is a bit over the top. This is the perfect solution to that bit of make-up you need to feel presentable, without being too forced. It also gives you a little character with it's minimalism. Estée Lauder makes an amazing eye-liner called Double Wear. I always forget I am wearing eye make-up and rub my eyes or whatever and end up looking like a panda. Estée Lauders eyeliner is so good that it doesn't smudge at all, even if I touch it. For real. Life-saver for a klutz like me.

A lovely coat - it is feminine and fitted. I never placed much emphasis on a overcoat because in Sydney it never gets cold enough to require one, but while in Italy it was my best friend in winter. The only thing this coat needs is a big collar, but would that ruin it's refinement?

What an amazing set up for visual identity. I'm currently doing a subject that focuses on designing our own identity and this beyond amazing to me. It completely confronts the concept behind the profession so that it is not only is a design on a business card and letterhead, but almost a stage with props. The added elements of cheese and wine etc gives a more holistic idea. Even though design can be clever, nothing replaces the tangibility of the real object or product in this instance. PS how cute is the melted lids on the wine bottles.

Nice.

Just some mostly type-based designs...simple, but good.

Bit of A Mess

I've posted this ^ before, but I love it... I still wonder if it is real...I'd want something similar for myself if it could work. I've been told that it will become unique to not have a tattoo, which is a valid point. I know way too many people with tattoos, we're going to be the tattoo generation. But I think as a visual person, it would be nice to have my own design or artwork on my own body, trends aside.

Fill Me Up!

I am 100 times more likely to buy an item of clothing or accessory if it has pockets or even better... unexpected pockets (my old school blazer had an inside pocket that had a zipper - amazing, nothing has lived up to it's brilliance thus far). I like to be organised so having a sneaky pocket to conceal the amount of crap I carry around with me is great. I love the perfect balance of function & form.

A wedding dress with pockets!! soooo gooood.

PS How much better do photographed poses look with pockets; "I'm posing...but I'm not trying hard cause I'm so relaxed and effortlessly cool putting my hand in a pocket" - it's true, no?

Blanc

I am really like white - however there never seems to be an occasion for me to wear it (too formal, due to plans for the day - highly likely it will get dirty....which leads to: cannot justify buying white bottoms - I do way too much sitting on trains/ground/floor etc) Basically - I like white on other people, I am too neurotic to wear it myself!

Quantity over Quality

Every now and then everyone enjoys a little quantity over quality.

Swallows

This is so upsetting! Who said animals can't feel pain and sadness? Apparently the French newspaper who printed these images sold out on the day because so many people were moved by the story.

Poor baby.
